In utter dismay for the Indian cricket fans, the visitors, Australia have crushed the Indian team by a massive margin of nine wickets in the recently-concluded third of the four-match Test series. Now, Australia has also registered its name on the scoreline of the series with 1-2 from their point of view.
Aussies under the captaincy of stand-in skipper Steve Smith dominated from the very first day of the Indore Test. Eventually, they ended up winning the fixture only in the first session of the third day in the penultimate clash of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023.
The Indian cricket fans were also disappointed and gutted after this performance from Rohit Sharma’s men; they took to Twitter to express themselves and also praised the comeback of the Australian team in the series.
Here’s how fans reacted:

Speaking of the entire action of the match, the hosts’ skipper Rohit Sharma won the flip of the coin and decided to bat first, but his decision was proved wrong courtesy of the brilliant bowling by young Aussie star Matthew Kuhnemann. He claimed his career’s first five-wicket haul and helped Australia to bundle India only on the score of 109 in the first innings. Other than Kuhnemann, the veteran off-spinner Nathan Lyon also scalped three wickets in the first innings.
Replying to India’s 109, Australia posted a total of 197 runs in their first innings taking a lead of 88 runs. Although the bowling trio of Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, and senior pacer, Umesh Yadav played a vital role in restricting Australia before 200.
Later on, in the second innings, the hosts’ batting lineup completely surrendered to the excellence of Nathan ‘Garry’ Lyon; who scalped record eight wickets in the second innings. The veteran batter and Test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara was the lone fighter for India to play a knock of 59 runs off 142 balls with five boundaries and a six. His knock helped the struggling India to somehow post a target of 76 runs to Australia in the fourth innings of the match.
Eventually, Australia comfortably chased down the target for the loss of only one wicket and sealed the victory by nine wickets. Senior bowler Nathan Lyon won the ‘player of the match for his match-defining bowling heroics.
