The IPL Match on 1st October 2020 saw the clash between the defending champions Mumbai Indians and KXIP. The fans saw a great victory for Rohit Sharma’s team as they got a comfortable 48-run win. The last over bowling by KXIP brought the game-changing moment for the Mumbai team batting unit. The fans saw runs flowing in endlessly from MI.
The partnership between Hardik Pandya and Kieron Pollard gave them a big last over of 25 runs. Pandya scored 30 off 11 and Pollard scored 47* of 20 in the match. Their innings wreaked all the havoc on KXIP’s bowlers.
Hardik Pandya has shared the experience of the last over batting in a YouTube channel interview with his elder brother Krunal. He said that the massive hits by Pollard and him fetched for Mumbai Indian 67 runs from just 23 balls. Together both of them posted a huge 191/4 on the scoreboard for their team. Even the score of 70 off 48 by Rohit Sharma's gave much-needed footing of score to the team.
“It was very intense, it was more like mouth-watering that off-spinner bowling the 20th over. Me and Pollard, whoever misses has to stand at the non-striker's end and just watch, and that was me today. I missed two balls, but Pollard made up most of it,” quoted Hardik.
According to the 26-year-old Indian all-rounder, he enjoys batting during the IPL with the fellow Caribbean a lot. During many crucial occasions earlier, the duo has done the job of scoring runs for their team. Pandya stated that he didn't have confidence at that time that they could post 191 runs but it was their lucky moment enough to have achieved it for their team.
Hardik Pandya reveals 191 runs was not the aim then, but they were lucky enough to score it
“The number of times Pollard and I have done this is fantastic, and I've always enjoyed it. When we went, it was a clear message for me that I should go hard and look to get some big runs at the end and get to a total that KXIP finds difficult. We didn't aim for 191, but we were lucky enough that the big man (Pollard) had done it again,” added Hardik.
At the end of the interview of his brother, Krunal Pandya added that when he came to bowl against KXIP in the fourth over, the KXIP was definitely at a good place. However, MI made it in their favour at the end of the match.
