The KKR side has endured quite a rollercoaster ride in IPL 2021 so far. Eoin Morgan’s men have won only 2 out of 5 matches in this season. If KKR wants to qualify for the IPL 2021 playoffs, they need to find a form soon. The 2-time IPL champions will now take on DC in the 25th match of IPL 2021.

That said, here are 3 areas of concern for KKR ahead of their clash against DC in IPL 2021:

3. Shubman Gill has been out of form in IPL 2021 so far

Shubman Gill has failed to impress in IPL 2021 so far. In 5 matches for KKR in IPL 2021, Gill has amassed a meager 89 runs. Furthermore, his dismal batting average of just 14.83 clearly highlights his ineffectiveness with the bat. The 20-year-old’s position in the team has also been questioned by several cricket experts. However, it is likely that KKR will opt for Gill to open for the team. One reason why Gill received a national call-up was because of his brilliant performance in IPL 2020. However, if he keeps batting ineffectively, selectors might lose faith in the youngster.

2. None of KKR’s pace bowlers has been consistent this season

Pat Cummins, who was acquired by KKR at 15.5 cr, scalped just 6 wickets in 6 matches. However, Cummins has leaked runs at a dismal economy of 9.36 runs per over. Prasidh Krishna has scalped 9 wickets for KKR so far in IPL 2021 but has also been costly with the ball, leaking more than 9 runs per over. Shivam Nagarkoti also failed to impress with the ball, picking 2 wickets in 2 matches this season. Some inconsistent bowling performances by KKR’s pace bowlers have heaped pressure on the spinners to deliver.

1. KKR’s batting lineup hasn’t settled properly so far this season

Although Nitish Rana fired with the bat in the early stages of IPL 2021, he has looked shaky recently. Shubman Gill, meanwhile, has failed to register a big score for KKR. Rahul Tripathi and Eoin Morgan have also been quite inconsistent with the bat on several occasions this season. The West Indian duo of Andre Russell and Sunil Narine has not contributed much either. Eoin Morgan and the KKR management need to find a way to get the best out of their batsmen.
