AB de Villiers

Former South Africa skipper AB de Villiers cannot wait to get going with RCB in the fourteenth IPL season. The 37-year-old stated that he feels as young as ever after training over the last few months. The South African batsman has featured in every IPL season since its inaugural edition in 2008. De Villiers made the remarks during an appearance on RCB's Bold Diaries after practicing with the team on April 7.

AB de Villiers reached India on April 1 and has been in hotel quarantine since then. The dynamic batsman came out of quarantine on Thursday and began the practice session with the rest of the squad. AB de Villiers was RCB's third-highest run-scorer with 454 runs last season. The Proteas player will once again don the finisher's role for the franchise. He was happy with how his first training session went, but AB de Villiers accepted that there were certain things he needed to get right before the first match against Mumbai Indians.

AB de Villiers is still RCB's marquee overseas player

Despite the arrival of some megastars like Kyle Jamieson and Glenn Maxwell, AB de Villiers is still RCB's marquee overseas player. De Villiers was spotted practicing wicket-keeping on his first day of training with the entire team. Thus, the former South African batsman could once again don the gloves for Bangalore in IPL 2021. In 169 IPL matches so far, he has scored 4849 runs with an average of 40.4. In 2017 ABD waived from captaining the national limited-overs teams, and in May 2018, he hung his boots from all formats of international cricket.

RCB is going to play the first match of the tournament against MI at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on April 9. Virat Kohli and the team will play their first three opening leg matches of IPL 2021 in Chennai. After obtaining the services of Glenn Maxwell, Dan Christian, and Kyle Jamieson, the RCB team management has also confirmed that captain Virat Kohli will open the innings for the Bengaluru-based outfit this season.
