Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) all-rounder Andre Russell might miss the team’s clash against Delhi Capitals (DC) on Tuesday (28 September). Russell suffered an injury on his hamstring against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) near the boundary. In a desperate attempt to stop the ball, the all-rounder put in all his efforts only to have pulled up the problem while trying to throw the ball in a hurry.
With the games coming thick and fast during the IPL, Russell might well have to miss the clash against DC if he does not recover in time. The star all-rounder was also not available on the field after the injury that took place during the 17th over of the innings. The blow to his hamstring was confirmed by KKR assistant coach David Hussey. He also said the medical staff is monitoring the situation.
Hussey also said it’s too early to comment if the all-rounder will miss the match against DC due to the hamstring blow. “It’s still too early to tell. He said he felt something pop in his leg, his hamstring. We’ve got the best medical staff in the business so they’ll tend to him and hopefully, it’s nothing too serious, because he’s a key part of our team.
“He’s been playing very very nicely with the bat, the ball, and in the field. So hopefully nothing too serious, and he can come back and light the competition up like we know Andre Russell can do,” Hussey said in the post-match presser.
Speaking about the match, KKR lost a nail-biter of a contest to CSK on the last ball. By the looks of it, skipper Eoin Morgan wanted Russell to bowl the 19th over but had to turn to Prasidh Krishna, who in the end ended up giving 22 runs in the over.
