IPL 2021: Ishan Porel wants to dismiss Virat Kohli in the tournament

Punjab King's seamer Ishan Porel has stated that Virat Kohli would be a dream wicket for him in the upcoming IPL season. Ishan Porel, who warmed the bench for the entire IPL season last year, flew to Australia as a net bowler with the Indian cricket team. Unfortunately, the 22-year-old had to return home after picking up a hamstring injury in Sydney. Porel went to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru and has surprisingly recovered sooner than anticipated. The Bengal pacer then played and bowled brilliantly in the Syed Mushtaq Ali and the Vijay Hazare competition. He scalped 13 wickets from five games for Bengal in this year’s Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He also finished the tournament as the fifth-highest wicket-taker.

Virat Kohli is the No. 1 batsman in all three formats of the game: Ishan Porel

In a recent interview, Ishan Porel reckoned that he would like to get the prized scalp of the RCB skipper. The youngster believes that Virat Kohli is the No. 1 batsman in all three formats. Ishan Porel also spoke about bowling to the likes of Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul in Australia.

Ishan Porel may consider himself unlucky as in recent times, several young players made debuts for India and performed well, but Porel missed his chance due to the injury. However, the 2018 Under-19 World Cup winner is presently focusing on the forthcoming IPL season. Ishan stated that he needs to perform well in the Indian Premier League and in domestic cricket to earn the national call-up.

Ishan Porel also discussed about his team’s poor bowling performance in IPL 2020. The youngster hoped that Punjab Kings would put up a better show this season. Ishan further added that he would like to shoulder the bowling responsibilities for his franchise and is aiming to give his 120 per cent for the team as Punjab Kings look to end their long wait of clinching the elusive IPL trophy. KL Rahul-led team Punjab Kings will play their first IPL contest against the Rajasthan Royals on 12th April 2021.
