Riding on Nitish Rana's sparkling 80, Kolkata Knight Riders became the third IPL team to notch 100 wins in the competition. KKR has now joined MI and CSK in another elite list of top IPL teams by recording their 100th victory in the competition. Opening batsman Nitish Rana (80) and Rahul Tripathi (53) smashed effortless fifties to script Kolkata Knight Riders a comfortable 10-run win against Sunrisers Hyderabad. SRH's Rashid Khan (2/24) was once again at his best, putting tough challenges to the KKR batsmen. On the other end, his bowling colleagues proved ineffective on a slow yet decent batting wicket. Hyderabad lost captain David Warner (3) and Wriddhiman Saha (7) early.

Jonny Bairstow, coming in at No.4, revived the chase with a 40-ball 55. The England batsman got going with a six off Shakib Al Hassan over extra cover. He then slammed 15 runs off Andre Russell's first over. Bairstow and Manish Pandey kept the Sunrisers in the competition by adding 92 for the third wicket. However, Eoin Morgan's gamble of recalling Pat Cummins worked as the Australian pacer picked up Bairstow's wicket. Pat Cummins bowled two tight overs at the start and then helped KKR scalp the most crucial wicket of the day. Manish Pandey, who scored a valiant unbeaten half-century, ran out of partners as the run rate climbed. It once again exposed SRH's lower-order weakness.

Nitish Rana was named the Player of the Match

Earlier, asked to bat, KKR got off to a great start. Opening batsman Nitish Rana slamming a series of boundaries through the covers, both along the ground and over the in-field. The batsman went after pacer Sandeep Sharma. He hit the medium-pacer for three back-to-back boundaries in the fourth over, two through the off-side and one over fine leg. With some help from Shubman Gill, Kolkata managed to get 50 runs off the Powerplay. Rashid Khan gave SRH the first breakthrough by dismissing Shubman Gill.

Wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik gave KKR a good finish with three boundaries towards the end. He recorded 22 runs in 9 deliveries. SRH's bowling unit started poorly but staged a turnaround, with Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi taking two scalps each. Meanwhile, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and T Natarajan also registered a dismissal each. Kolkata Knight Riders will now play against defending champions Mumbai Indians in Chennai on Tuesday.
