IPL 2021: Michael Hussey tests positive for COVID-19

IPL authorities confirmed this after the tournament was vaguely suspended due to a COVID-19 outbreak in its bio-bubble. L Balaji and a support staff member of the CSK contingent tested positive on May 2. As per IPL rules, the rest of the CSK squad is now going to remain in isolation. Both coach L Balaji and the staff member have been isolated from the rest of the CSK team, and they are in good spirits. In the wake of several players and support staff testing positive for COVID-19, the 14th season of the IPL was postponed for the time being by the BCCI on Tuesday.

Earlier, Monday's clash between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore was also postponed after two KKR cricketers tested positive for COVID-19. KKR's Chakravarthy and Warrier tested positive for the virus. Both the cricketers have been isolated from the rest of the squad. Chennai Super Kings last played their game against Mumbai Indians on May 1. Rajasthan Royals' last outing in the competition was on May 2 against SunRisers Hyderabad.

40 Australian players, coaches, and commentators are likely to get out of India

On Tuesday, it was also confirmed that Sunrisers Hyderabad wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha and Delhi Capitals spinner Amit Mishra had also contracted the COVID-19 virus. As a result, the Indian cricket board decided to suspend IPL 2021 indefinitely. CSK batting coach Michael Hussey will now have to isolate himself for at least ten days. After he returns with a negative COVID test, the former will start his journey back to Australia. According to sources, around 40 Australian players, coaches, and commentators are likely to get out of India. A few local cricketers have already headed back home, while the foreign players will also be leaving India soon.

Since the beginning of 2021, the second wave of Covid-19 has become a massive concern for the Indian government and the people residing in the country.
