Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni has now become the wicketkeeper with most catch dismissals in the Indian Premier League (IPL). MS Dhoni achieved the feat during KKR’s inning and surpassed Dinesh Karthik to climb to the top of the list of most catch dismissals in IPL. Coincidently, Dhoni caught Dinesh Karthik to achieve the landmark. Dhoni now has 116 catches to his name in comparison to Dinesh Karthik’s 115. Karthik, however, can regain his top spot if he manages to catch two CSK batters.
Overall, Dhoni has 155 dismissals, including 36 stumpings and holds the record of most dismissals by a wicketkeeper in IPL. Dhoni is followed by Dinesh Karthik, who has 146 scalps to his name.
Meanwhile, CSK are well on their way to register yet another win in the IPL 2021. The Men in Yellow are 138-4 in 16.4 overs and require another 34 runs to get one step closer to the playoffs. At 101-1, they were cruising to a win but three quick wickets have given KKR a ray of hope.
Earlier, KKR got off to a brilliant start, scoring 50 in the first five overs. However, regular wickets derailed their chase. At one point, it looked like they will settle for a score of under 150 but a quickfire knock from Dinesh Karthik provided the much-needed impetus to the innings which took them to 171/6.
Meanwhile, CSK are flying high after seven wins in nine games. The reason for their solid show has been the magnificent form of their openers - Faf du Plessis and Ruturaj Gaikwad. While Du Plessis has 394 runs in the tournament at an average of 49.25, Gaikwad has scored 362 runs at an average of 40.22.
