Prithvi Shaw had hit six fours in the first over against KKR. The over was bowled by Shivam Mavi. It happened during Delhi Capitals (DC) run chase in IPL 2021 against KKR. That day he became the second batsman after Ajinkya Rahane to score six fours in one over in the IPL.

Prithvi Shaw disclosed that he had lost count of the deliveries in that over. He came to know after the fifth ball that a sixth ball was left. Mavi had bowled a wide ball at first. Shikhar Dhawan had to tell him that he has to play one more ball. He was counting the wide ball as well so he mixed up the count.

The young player commented that once he was aware of the count, he made up his mind to hit another boundary. His mind was blank when he had hit the first five boundaries. But he made up his mind before hitting the sixth boundary. He just wanted to try and hit one more boundary after the first five fours.

Prithvi Shaw scored 82 runs off just 41 balls in that match. The Delhi Capitals won the match with seven wickets to spare and 21 deliveries remaining. They had to chase a target of 155 runs.

Prithvi Shaw did not want to hit a 6 in the final delivery

Prithvi Shaw further stated that he predicted where exactly Mavi would bowl the final delivery to him. He was ready when Mavi released the sixth ball. He had tightened his gluten and forearms to control the hit. Shaw was careful not to hit too hard. He did not want to go for a six.

Shaw concluded by saying that Mavi was upset with him after the match. He had played with both Kamalesh Nagarkoti and Mavi in the U-19 team. Mavi is a good bowler. He had asked him before the match to not hit much when he bowled. Shaw had told him as well to not bowl too fast. After the match, Mavi complained about him hitting the ball too much.

Shivam Mavi and Nagarkoti were the prime steamers of the U-19 team in the 2018 Under-19 world cup. Both of them took 9 wickets apiece in the six matches India played in the tournament. India had won the world cup title under Prithvi Shaw’s leadership and Rahul Dravid’s guidance.
