India All Rounders

The World Test Championship will begin on June 18th in Southampton. India looks like a confident side, ready to win. New Zealand is expected to give tough competition. But India fancies their chance of a win given their well-rounded squad for the match.

India has struggled to find good all-rounders in white-ball cricket. The proficiency of their premier fast bowlers has helped them elude the same problem in Test format.

Most of them got their field time in the Indian Premier League 2021.

How did Team India all-rounders perform in the IPL?

Ravichandran Ashwin(3/10)

The off-spinner did not perform well in the IPL 2021.  He picked up just one wicket in the five matches he played and conceded the run. Ashwin had an economy rate of 7.73. He is not an all-rounder in the T20 format. For the World Test Championship final, India needs him to be in his best form.

Ravindra Jadeja (9.5/10)

Jadeja was the star for the CSK in IPL. He was placed second on the list for the MVP award when the league got suspended. He contributed to all 3 departments in all the games.

Jadeja scored 131 runs in six innings with a strike rate of 161.72. He got dismissed just once. He picked up six wickets in seven games at a 6.7 economy rate. On-field he took eight catches and helped in two runouts.

Axar Patel (7/10)

Axar entered late in the IPL after testing positive for covid 19. He took 6 wickets in four games. His economy rate was 7. Axar will be ready to step in for Jadeja in the England tour.

Washington Sundar (5/10)

In the 96 balls he bowled, he took just 3 wickets. His economic rate was 7.37. Sundar's batting performance was also a huge letdown.

Shradul Thakur (1/10)

CSK did not require his batting skills. But his prime skillset of bowling had let the team down. He gave away runs at 10.33 per over. Thakur took just five wickets in seven games.

Shradul Thakur's biggest asset is his batting and ability to swing the ball. He might not get a chance to play in the World Test Championship final for India after his IPL display.
