RCB skipper Virat Kohli is optimistic about the team's chances of turning things around this year in the T20 league. Kohli has finally joined the RCB squad on Thursday, April 1, ahead of the 14th season of the IPL. He is currently serving a 7-day mandatory quarantine before being allowed to train with other RCB team members. Kohli is thrilled to see the IPL return to the country after the 13th season of the competition was held in UAE due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Meanwhile, RCB coach Simon Katich and pacer Navdeep Saini have completed their mandatory quarantine period.
South Africa batsman AB de Villiers feels the team can carry on the winning momentum from last year's tournament. Both RCB stars Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers joined the team bubble in Chennai on Thursday. The franchise retained just 12 squad members and released 10 players before IPL 2021 Mini Auction. Apart from the Australian batsman Glenn Maxwell, RCB also spent huge to acquire the services of New Zealand’s young all-rounder Kyle Jamieson. The youngster was bought by RCB for a whopping amount of Rs 15 crore.
Virat Kohli Feels Good About RCB’s Chances This Season
As per the protocols, all cricketers (except for those from the India-England series), support staff, and management entering the bubble will have to undergo a mandatory seven-day quarantine in their hotel rooms. Every individual is going to be tested multiple times during this period. Upon returning negative results, the cricketers will be allowed to begin their outdoor practice sessions. Earlier this week, as many as 11 RCB players commenced their training sessions for the 14th edition of the IPL.
Despite having star-studded rosters over the years, RCB is yet to win the IPL title. But after making a few additions to their team, Kohli & co. will enhance their chances of going all the way this year. RCB will play the first match of the tournament against MI at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on April 9. Virat Kohli and the team will play their first three opening leg matches of IPL 2021 in Chennai.
