The second leg of the Indian Premier League will resume with a mouth-watering clash between two old rivals, Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings. The tournament was postponed in May after COVID-19 wreaked havoc in India. At the time of suspension, Delhi Capitals held the top spot, followed by Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians.

Shikhar Dhawan (DC) led the charts of most runs with 380 runs to his name. Punjab Kings KL Rahul scored 331 runs while CSK opener Faf du Plessis accumulated 320 runs to settle at second and third respectively. With the ball, Bangalore's Harshal Patel with 17 wickets was the highest wicket-taker, followed by Delhi Capitals' Avesh Khan (14) and Rajasthan Royals Chris Morris (14).

Delhi Capitals missed out on the title in the 2020 edition and will be keen to end their title drought this time around. Royal Challengers Bangalore will also be aiming for their first IPL trophy after making some impressive signings. Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians are the two most consistent teams in the history of the tournament and are among the top contenders to win. Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad are lagging too far behind and will need to pull off something extraordinary to reach the playoffs. Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings, with three wins, are also behind but they have enough opportunity to make a comeback. However, they can’t afford to carry on playing the way they did in the first leg.
