Punjab Kings coach Anil Kumble has stated that there is a player in his team who has a similar skill set like Kieron Pollard. Shahrukh Khan, the Tamil Nadu batsman, may well be the find of the season and the player to watch out for in the fourteenth IPL season. The 25-year old batsman attracted a massive bid from Punjab Kings in the latest IPL 2021 mini-auction.
Shahrukh Khan has featured in 31 T20 matches thus far. He has amassed 293 runs at a strike rate of 131.39. With his batting exploits in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL), the right-handed batsman sparked an intense bidding war for his services in the IPL auction in February. The renamed side, led by KL Rahul, bought the relatively unknown batsman for a whopping amount of Rs 5.25 crore. Shahrukh Khan stated that he was astonished that there was a bidding war for his services in the IPL auction.

Punjab Kings bought nine cricketers at the auction. The franchise splashed huge money on two Australian players who are yet to play in the T20 league. Richardson was bought for Rs 14 crore, whereas his fellow Australian teammate Meredith got a deal of Rs 8 crores. The Mohali-based franchise also bagged the No.1 ranked T20 batsman Dawid Malan for his base price of Rs 1.5 crore.
Australian all-rounder Moises Henriques will also feature for Punjab Kings in the forthcoming edition of the Indian Premier League. The franchise invested Rs 4.2 crores to acquire his services. The KL Rahul-led team also invested big in Caribbean all-rounder Fabian Allen and Indian uncapped players like Jalaj Saxena, Saurabh Kumar, and Utkarsh Singh. Punjab Kings will open their IPL 2021 contest against the RR on April 12 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Wankhede Stadium is going to host 10 IPL matches this year from April 10-25.
