Match referee Vengalil Narayanan Kutty rebuked RCB skipper Virat Kohli for breaching the IPL's code of conduct. The batsman was fined 15 percent of his match fee during the game against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on April 14. Virat Kohli played a decent inning, scoring 33 runs in 29 balls. After his dismissal in the 13th over of the first innings, the RCB skipper was annoyed on his way back towards the pavilion. On the way back, Virat Kohli smashed the boundary cushions with his willow and even hit a chair in the dugout. The Level 1 breach of clause 2.2 pertains to abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment, or fixtures and fittings during a game.

Considering this is Virat Kohli's first offense of the season, he was let off with a reprimand. However, a warning has already been issued to the RCB captain stating that a repeat of such an offense could have severe consequences. If skipper Virat Kohli does breach the IPL Code of Conduct again, he would have to face a deduction of 50 to 100 percent of his match fee. Apart from the fine, the Royal Challengers star batsman could face a two to four-match ban in such a case.

Virat Kohli failing to convert his starts into a big score

Kohli got off to a great start against Sunrisers Hyderabad but couldn't convert his innings into a big score. The 32-year-old was dismissed by West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder in the 13th over of the match. What was eventually frustrating for Virat Kohli was the fact that he had also failed to convert his start in the previous game against MI. In that match, he scored 33 runs.

Royal Challengers Bangalore have started their IPL season on a positive note, winning the first two games so far. The Kohli-led franchise is presently on top of the points table. The biggest positive for the team has been the performance of Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell. He has scored 98 runs in the last two games. Talking about the bowling department, left-arm spinner Shahbaz Ahmed was the star performer for RCB against SRH. He picked up three crucial wickets in the 17th over. The Bengaluru franchise will next face Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday at the same venue.
