IPL 2022 to feature ten teams, two new franchises to be auctioned in May

Sourav Ganguly and other BCCI officials met on Saturday regarding the execution of various policies that were approved at the start of 2021. Thus, new advancements have come forward, claiming that the two new IPL teams will be auctioned in May. A senior BCCI member stated that 10 IPL teams would roll on from next year. The bidding process and finalisation of the new teams will be completed by the month of May this year. Once the IPL franchises are finalized, respective teams can start their operational work, which takes considerable time.

Thus, new advancements have come forward, claiming that the two new IPL teams will be auctioned in May. A senior BCCI member stated that 10 IPL teams would roll on from next year. The bidding process and finalisation of the new teams will be completed by the month of May this year. Once the IPL franchises are finalised, respective teams can start their operational work, which takes considerable time. 

The IPL 2022 edition is set to see the amplification of the league, with two new franchises. However, many enigmas remain regarding which cities will come forward to form the two new IPL teams. Even in the 2011 season, IPL was a 10-team affair with Kochi Tuskers Kerala and Pune Warriors' inclusion. However, the next edition saw Kochi Tuskers' termination following their breach of BCCI's terms and conditions. The decision to thrive IPL was taken following the highly-successful IPL 2020 edition, which took place in UAE amid strict COVID-19 protocols. 

Team India's ODI team to be declared on March 14

The Indian cricket team is currently involved in the five T20Is against Eoin Morgan-led England in Ahmedabad. Following this, the three One Day Internationals will take place in Pune amid strict protocols as COVID-19 cases remain on the rise in Maharashtra. BCCI is anticipated to announce the ODI squad for the forthcoming series on Sunday (March 14). However, none of the senior cricketers has demanded rest which might see in-form Prithvi Shaw and Devdutt Padikkal remaining out of contention despite their excellent form in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021. He stated that both Prithvi Shaw and Devdutt Padikkal would have to wait for their opportunity.

India won the Test series 3-1 and are currently playing the five-match T20I series. With a goal to make a comeback and level the series 1-1, Team India will host England in the second T20I of the series on March 14. The game will be played at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium. The Men in Blue suffered a big 8-wicket defeat in the first game as England chased down 125 with ease.
