Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings are set to lock horns in the 14th match of the Indian Premier League 2023. It will be the third match of both teams in the ongoing edition of the tournament. Notably, the Shikhar Dhawan-led Punjab Kings are coming off with two consecutive wins in their first two matches in the tournament.
On the other than, the Sunrisers have lost both of the two matches they played in the IPL 2023 so far. They will be looking for their first win in the tournament whereas the Kings will be eyeing to clinch the third successive win in the current edition.
With said that, here we’ll have a look at the three marquee players to watch out for; these players could have a big impact on the match for either of the sides.
Shikhar Dhawan
Punjab Kings skipper and veteran opener Shikhar Dhawan is enjoying a brilliant run of form with the bat in the tournament so far. He played a swashbuckling knock of 86 runs off just 56 balls with nine boundaries and three sixes to his name. His knock played a vital role in Punjab’s win against Rajasthan by a close margin of 5 runs.
Notably, the senior Southpaw has also shown his class in the last 10 T20 appearances by scoring 381 runs with an amazing average of 54.42. He could be an essential factor for Punjab Kings in their crucial clash against SRH.
Aiden Markram
The SRH skipper returned to Indian Premier League 2023 in their second match after fulfilling his national duties for South Africa in two-match ODI series against the Netherlands. But unfortunately, Markram couldn’t get off the mark in his first appearance in the IPL 2023 and went back to the pavilion on a duck.
But the proteas southpaw has been in amazing form in white-ball cricket lately both in T20Is and ODIs. He played some brilliant knocks for South Africa in the T20I series against West Indies followed by a half-century and 175-run century against the Netherlands. Considering his form, it can be said that Markram might make a strong comeback which could help SRH register their first win in the tournament.
Arshdeep Singh
Young Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh has lived up to the expectations in the ongoing edition of the Indian T20 League so far. He has scalped 5 wickets in the two matches he played for Punjab this season against Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals respectively.
Apart from this, Arshdeep has scalped 13 wickets in his last 10 T20 appearances for Punjab Kings. The 24-year-old left-arm pacer could make a difference in favour of Punjab both during the powerplay and death overs of the game as well.
