The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 auction is set to take place on December 19 in Dubai. This is the first time that the auction is set to take place outside of India. A total of 1166 players have registered for the auction. Of them, 25 have set their starting price at Rs 2 crore or higher. All ten franchises will compete for 77 players, 30 of which will be reserved for overseas players. There are 830 Indian players and 336 foreign players among the total. There are 212 capped players, 909 uncapped players, and 45 associate players on the list.
Out of the 25 players, 7 players are Australians, who were part of the ODI World Cup 2023 winning side. Mitchell Starc has also put his name after 2015. The left-arm pacer has been one of the finest pacers in white-ball cricket of this generation. The Indian Cricket Board is yet to finalize the IPL schedule, pending the notification of the Election Commission of India's election dates.
The IPL schedule will be set by the election dates. The Board has told the franchises that the IPL will take place from the third week of March to the third week of May. The teams have already retained and released the players in the retention window.

There have been two shocking names on the list Kedar Jadhav and Angelo Mathews. The former is 38 now and did not get any IPL team last time around. As per the reports New Zealand's star Rachin Ravindra has kept his base price at Rs 50 lakh. The English Cricket Board (ECB) has not clarified why Jofra Archer has not given his name in IPL.
