Dinesh Karthik and Rishabh Pant have both been in the eyes of the selectors for quite some time now. The selectors are facing a keeper conundrum. Dinesh Karthik was a part of the team in the last India-Pakistan fixture and was the preferred keeping option ahead of Rishabh Pant.

But for the ongoing game against Pakistan, Dinesh Karthik has been dropped without getting a chance to properly prove himself. It has been understood that India needed the left-handed pyrotechnics of Rishabh Pant because of the unavailability of Ravindra Jadeja.

They had to get another left-handed option in the middle and that is why the team management went with Pant. This shows that with Jadeja unavailable, Hardik Pandya will take the finisher's slot. And because India needed more power in the middle they went with Pant.

Rishabh Pant gives the unorthodox strokes and can turn the game on its head with his ability and power. So this is why the team and coaching staff have opted for Pant ahead of Karthik.

When Rishabh Pant did not play the last game, he got a lot of support from former cricketing pundits like Ricky Ponting, Gautam Gambhir and Saba Karim.

Dinesh Karthik's finishing skills in the Indian T20 League with the Bangalore side brought him back into the limelight and gave an India call up again for Karthik. The selectors had a selection call to make and seemed to have sided with the man from Delhi at present. The only mistake from the selectors and team is that Dinesh Karthik was not given a chance to prove himself and was benched pretty much straightaway.

Twitter was on fire because of this, and we got a lot of reactions, let us take a look at them here:
