Bangalore started their campaign in the Indian T20 League 2023 with a comfortable and convincing win against Mumbai. Both teams played this match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Bangalore skipper Faf du Plessis won the flip of the coin and asked the five-time champion Mumbai to bat first.

Batting first, Mumbai batters didn’t live up to the expectations except for the young middle-order batter Tilak Varma. He helped the team somehow reach a decent total of 171 runs for the loss of seven wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Later on, Bangalore comfortably chased down the target without any hurdle just in 16.2 overs to win the match by a big margin of eight wickets. The fans were also elated following this impressive win of Bangalore in their campaign opener; they took to Twitter to appreciate Bangalore’s performance and also lavished praises on the former skipper Virat Kohli for his sensational knock for Bangalore.

Talking about the entire action of the game between Bangalore and Mumbai, the visitors’ batting lineup couldn’t sustain against Bangalore’s bowling lineup. They could post a total of 171 runs for the loss of seven wickets, thanks to the sensational knock of Tilak Varma; he scored 84 runs off just 46 balls with nine boundaries and four sixes to his name.

Karna Sharma picked two wickets for Bangalore alongside one wicket each by all other bowlers who bowled for Bangalore except Glenn Maxwell.

While chasing the target of 172 runs, the experienced and premium opening pair of former skipper Virat Kohli and current skipper Faf du Plessis provided an outstanding start to Bangalore. The duo stitched a partnership of 148 runs in 14.5 overs before Faf fell prey to Arshad Khan at the hands of Tim David. He scored 73 runs off just 43 balls with five boundaries and six sixes on his credit.

It was Virat Kohli at the end who finished things in an impressive and convincing style with a six to win the match for Bangalore. The 35-year-old played a remarkable knock of 82 runs off 49 balls with six boundaries and five sixes with the wood. Eventually, the red outfits won the match by eight wickets having Virat Kohli as the player of the match.
