India's front-line bowler is set to achieve a significant milestone during the 3rd Test against England. Ishant Sharma will join the elite club of Indian players who have represented their country in 100-plus Tests. He will become the second fast bowler after Kapil Dev in the 100+ list. Sharma recently became the third Indian fast bowler to scalp 300 Test wickets, after Kapil Dev and Zaheer Khan

Ishant Sharma was ruled out of the entire 2020 Border-Gavaskar series. He made a comeback into the Test squad for the Test series against England and has claimed five wickets in 2 Tests so far.

Sharma will become the 11th Indian cricketer to feature in 100 Tests for his country. It will be an excellent achievement for the pacer whose career has seen a remarkable transformation since 2014. His first 79 Test games yielded 226 scalps, and the last 20 fetched him 76 wickets. This shows how the fast bowler from Delhi molded himself according to the team's requirements. The Indian cricket team has won 57.78 percent of the 45 Tests India played without Sharma. However, in the 99 Tests that Ishant has played, India's winning percentage is 45.45.

Ishant Sharma’s Test records and stats

Ishant Sharma made his Test debut against Bangladesh in 2007. The pacer currently has 302 scalps to his name at an economy of 3.16. He also has eleven 5-wicket hauls and one 10-wicket haul. The 32-year-old has produced several unique spells for his team, but the one against former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting in 2007-08 indeed remains one of the highlights of his Test career.

Ishan Sharma will play the pink-ball day-night Test in Ahmedabad. He was not much in the picture in the first two Tests against England in Chennai because the pitch was best suited to the spinners.

India will face England in the crucial third Test of the four-match series in the newly-built Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad. With the series currently tied at 1-1, the Day and Night Pink Ball match is essential for both teams.
