Indian spinner Amit Mishra reckoned that he wants Ishant Sharma to represent team India in at least 150 Tests. Both the bowlers are presently preparing for the upcoming 14th edition of the Indian Premier League. Ishant recently completed 100 Test matches and 300 wickets in the most extended format of the game against England. Amit Mishra also mentioned that Ishant can easily play longer given he has age on his side. Ishant Sharma has so far featured in 101 Tests and picked up 303 wickets. This also includes one 10-wicket haul and eleven five-wicket hauls.
Amit Mishra and Ishant Sharma will be seen playing for Delhi Capitals in the forthcoming IPL 2021 season. The tournament will be played across six cities in India: Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Ahmedabad. The newly built Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad is going to host the playoffs and the final of the tournament, on May 30.
Rishabh Pant to lead Delhi in the absence of Shreyas Iyer
DC has suffered a massive blow as their captain Shreyas Iyer is ruled out of the IPL 2021 due to an injury. Iyer dislocated his left shoulder during the first ODI between India and England, and later scans revealed more damage. The 26-year-old will be undergoing surgery to mend the injury and will be out for 3-4 months. As his replacement, the Delhi-based franchise named batsman Rishabh Pant as the captain of the team. Pant will be the youngest skipper in the forthcoming season and will also lead an IPL team for the first time in his career. This was a huge announcement, given that the team had the likes of Rahane, Ashwin, and Smith in their capacity. All the players mentioned above have captained teams in the Indian Premier League in the past as well.
Delhi, who are aiming for their first-ever IPL title this year, would be wishing that Pant turns out to be the lucky charm for them. The Delhi-based franchise made it to the final in the last edition and is one of the favourites in the 14th edition of the league. DC will play their first match against CSK at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on April 10.
