Former Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli is a global superstar with millions of fans across the globe. Having become the backbone of the Indian batting unit over the years, Kohli still continues to impress with his dominance on the field. However, being one of the world's fittest athletes, Kohli's passion for sports is not just limited to cricket.

Through his on-field heroics, Kohli has not only earned a hardcore fan following but has also become the apple of the eye of sponsors, which has made him top the list of richest cricketers in the world. It's no secret that Kohli is a formidable competitor in the business arena as well, owning and investing in numerous sectors.

The 34-year-old expanded his interest in sport and business by launching a team called 'Blue Rising' for the world's first all-electric raceboat series, the UIM E1 World Championship. Blue Rising Team is the latest participant for the mega event and will have a pair of high-profile principals at the helm – Virat Kohli and sports tech entrepreneur Adi K Mishra. The batting stalwart will embark on a journey in the exciting new sporting league from 2024.

Tennis great Rafael Nadal also owns a team in the upcoming series

Expressing his happiness on this new venture, Kohli, said: “I want to inspire people to have a competitive spirit and to raise awareness about sustainability issues, something I am becoming more and more passionate about as we build a family. I can’t wait to cheer for our male and female pilots racing for our team.

Kohli's team will also compete against tennis legend Rafael Nadal. Nadal, Tom Brady, Steve Aoki, Didier Drogba, Sergio Perez and Team Venice have already announced their teams for the inaugural season.

"I’m looking forward to lining up against the likes of Tom Brady, Rafa Nadal, Sergio Perez, Steve Aoki and Didier Drogba – we’re going electric, we’re going flying over the water and we’re going to try to win it for The Blue Rising," he added.

Meanwhile, Kohli is gearing up for the 2023 ODI World Cup. He has been in fine form recently and is expected to play a key role for Team India in the upcoming major tournament.
