Pakistan are getting ready for their 20-20 World Cup, 2022 opener against arch-rivals India on 23 October in Melbourne. After losing in the semi-final of the last edition in 2021, the Men in Green will look to grab that title this time around. In that semi-final, Pakistan lost against the eventual winner, Australia.

Matthew Wade was the start of the show for the Aussies. But, Hasan Ali made a blunder by dropping his catch in the 19th over. The Pakistani pacer got bashed after the match brutally. Shoaib Malik was also a part of the match. Now, he opened up about the chat he had with Hassan Ali after that dropped catch.

‘what would I’ve been feeling if I had dropped a catch there' - Shoaib Malik

During a conversation on A Sports, Shoaib Malik said that no players want to drop a catch intentionally. He said: “No one wants to drop a catch. It was a big game, it was a knock-out match. This was the semi-final of the T20 World Cup and when someone drops a catch in such a crunch situation, only he would be able to tell what it actually feels like. I only thought, ‘what would I’ve been feeling if I had dropped a catch there'.”

The former Pakistan skipper also added that he wanted to calm down Hassan Ali as the match was still in their hands. “I told him that it's not the end of the world. There's no need to worry, we are still in the game. You think all you want about it after the final ball is bowled. You are standing in the hotspot, maybe a catch comes to you again on the very next ball.” Shoaib Malik concluded.

Speaking about that match, Matthew Wade scored 41* runs off 17 balls only while chasing the target. In that same over only, he smashed Shaheen Afridi for three consecutive sixes after getting that lifeline. However, both Shoaib Malik and Hasan Ali will not be a part of Pakistan this time around in the 20-20 World Cup.
