Tim Paine has shared one of his side's primary goals. Make Bumrah and Ashwin bowl as many overs as possible. The wicket-keeper batsman wants the Aussies to wear down Bumrah and Ashwin. If the side manages to do that, there will be higher chances of scoring against other inexperienced Indian bowlers.
India will have to make changes in the bowling department, as Umesh Yadav sustained a calf muscle during the Boxing Day Test. This means that either of Shardul Thakur, Navdeep Saini, or T Natarajan will make their Test debut at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
With this, the visitors' bowling unit will look even more inexperienced than what it was in the second Test.
Indian batsmen have got some real depth in their squad: Tim Paine
In the absence of their run-machine Virat Kohli, there were several doubts whether the Indian batting could manage to score runs in the Boxing Day Test. However, India displayed an impressive show at Melbourne. A brilliant hundred from stand-in skipper Ajinkya Rahane helped the visitors to post a total score of 300 runs. However, other players like Shubman Gill and Ravindra Jadeja also chipped in with crucial runs.
Tim Paine feels that the Indian team have got great depth in their batting line-up. He also believes that the visitors have enough weapons to make up for Kohli's absence.
Rohit Sharma is going to be back in Team India's playing XI for the third Test. With this, the Indian batting will only get stronger. Rohit will replace Mayank and open the innings with Shubman Gill. On the other end, the hosts will be boosted by David Warner's presence at the top of the order.
As far as India's bowling attack is concerned, it will be thrilling to see who will receive his maiden Test cap for India. With each of Thakur, Saini and Natarajan bringing different varieties to the table, the Indian team management will have a hard time deciding the third seamer.
