The 67th match of IPL 2023 is being played between Delhi Capitals (DC) and the four-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK). This match is taking place at the home ground of DC but support is being seen a lot for CSK captain MS Dhoni. Despite it being an afternoon match, fans thronged the stadium in large numbers to watch Dhoni and only yellow jerseys were visible everywhere.

Meanwhile, an interesting incident took place during the 1st innings when Dhoni and CSK star allrounder Ravindra Jadeja were batting in the last over. Jadeja was batting well and also hit some boundaries as well, but despite this, the fans at the stadium were chanting 'Single-Single' to see their favourite batter Dhoni on the strike. Jadeja fulfilled the crowd's wish on the last ball, but Dhoni failed to do something special and could only score 1 run in the final ball of the innings.

Brilliant batting performance by CSK

Talking about the match, CSK skipper Dhoni decided to bat after winning the toss and his decision proved to be absolutely correct. The opening pair of Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad put on a stormy partnership of 141 runs for the first wicket to lay the foundation for a big score. Gaikwad played an inning of 79 runs in 50 balls with the help of 3 fours and 7 sixes. While Conway also scored 87 runs in 52 balls with the help of 11 fours and 3 sixes and CSK set a target of 224 runs in front of Delhi Capitals.

Shivam Dube also played a quick cameo of 22 runs off just 9 balls which included 3 maximums. Chetan Sakariya, Anrich Nortje, and Khaleel Ahmed picked up 1 wicket each, however, all the bowlers were expensive except Sakariya who conceded only 36 runs in his 4 overs quota. Meanwhile, CSK batting coach, Mike Hussey talked about the innings and Dhoni after the 1st innings.

"If you'd asked me if you would take 223 at the start, I would bite my hands off. Good job by Ruturaj and Conway, this is a good score on the board, but we'll have to bowl well. People who played told me this is the best wicket of the season so far, but it did slow down as the ball went soft. They've had a special relationship (on Ruturaj and Conway), complement each other well and bring the right-left hand angle as well, this pair has worked well for us. His knee isn't 100% at the moment (on MS Dhoni), so he's managing himself, coming in to bat in the last 2-3 overs. He isn't able to run as well as he did during his heydays, but he's doing things right and hitting the ball really well," Hussey was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
