The Pakistan cricket team is all set to face Sri Lanka on Thursday in Colombo. The match will be important for both teams. The winner of the game will face India in the finals of the Asia Cup 2023 tournament. The Indian team had already made it to the final game after their win over Sri Lanka on Tuesday.

Ahead of what many consider the semi-finals of the tournament, Pakistan were dealt a severe blow. Star pace bowler, Naseem Shah has been ruled out of the tournament due to injury. This has severely dented the hopes of the Pakistani team and its fans not only for the Asia Cup but also for the World Cup ahead.

Big blow for Pakistani Cricket Team

20-year-old right-arm fast bowler Naseem Shah is officially ruled out of Asia Cup 2023. The fast bowler sustained a shoulder injury during the game against India. As per reports, his shoulder injury occurred on Monday when the match was played on the reserve day. Naseem Shah was seen in discomfort as he left the field in the final over of the Indian innings. The right-arm pace bowler was seen walking away with the team's physiotherapist after bowling two deliveries in his final over. The rest of the over was bowled by Iftikhar Ahmed.

The injury to Naseem Shah has opened the door for 21-year-old pacer Zaman Khan to be added to the squad. Zaman Khan is yet to play any match for Pakistan and could make his debut on Thursday. As per reports, the injury to Naseem Shah will be assessed by the medical team. At this stage as per the Pakistani team management, Naseem Shah will be fit in time for the World Cup 2023.

Another player who is under an injury cloud is Haris Rauf, the right-arm quick had bowled 5 overs on Sunday. Pakistani team management issued a statement on Monday where it was confirmed Rauf wouldn’t take part in the match against India further. The reason for Haris Rauf pulling out was because the right-arm quick was feeling discomfort. Shahnawaz Dahani is waiting in the wings should the Pakistani team management rule Haris Rauf out of Asia Cup  2023.
