Faf du Plessis’ Bangalore and Mumbai under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma are crossing their swords against each other in the fifth match of the ongoing Indian T20 League 2023. Both teams are playing this match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The hosts’ skipper Faf du Plessis won the toss and has decided to bowl first at quite a bit puzzled surface of Chinnaswamy for both bowlers and batters.

Batting first, Mumbai struggled in starting as they lost their top three very early on the team’s total score of 20 runs in 6.2 overs. Skipper Rohit Sharma also failed to live up to the expectations and in a big disappointment for his fans, the 35-year-old could score only 1 run off 10 balls and fell prey to Akash Deep at the hands of senior wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik.

A section of cricket fans also trolled the five-time Indian T20 League champion skipper for his poor knock in the tournament opener against Bangalore. They took to Twitter to come up with some harsh, hard, and fast-lined reactions for Rohit.

Here’s how fans reacted:

Talking about the ongoing action of the match between Bangalore and Mumbai, the visitors have scored 103 runs for the loss of five wickets. Middle-order batters Tilak Verma and Tim David were there in the middle on the individual scores of 45 and 4 runs respectively.

Mohammed Siraj, Reece Topley, Akash Deep, Karn Sharma, and Michael Bracewell have scalped one wicket each to crumble Mumbai’s batting lineup.

Notably, Mumbai will be eyeing to achieve the title glory for the sixth time in the tournament as they didn’t have an expected run in last year’s edition. Rohit Sharma’s men could win only four matches out of the 14 fixtures they played in the Indian T20 League 2022.

Here’s a look at the playing XI for the first match against Bangalore:

Rohit Sharma (C), Ishan Kishan (WK), Cameron Green, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Verma, Nehal Wadhera, Tim David, Hrithik Shokeen, Arshad Khan, Piyush Chawla, and Jofra Archer.
