Rohit Sharma did not have the best of outings against Royal Challengers Bangalore. The Mumbai Indians skipper was dismissed for 7 off 8 balls by Wanindu Hasaranga. He was out lbw to the Sri Lankan. Rohit has had a torrid IPL 2023 so far. He has not found his timing and is struggling for runs. In 11 matches Rohit could only accumulate 191 runs. He has an average of 17.36. The 36-year-old has a strike rate of 124.83. He has not been able to provide those fast starts for MI.

Rohit's burden as a captain has increased at MI. The five-time IPL winning side have not hit the right straps so far in IPL 2023. They have been very inconsistent. The departure of big guns like Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya has hurt MI very dearly. The Ambani owned side have had to deal with injuries. Jhye Richardson was ruled out of the tournament due to injury.

Jasprit Bumrah has also been on the sidelines due to his back injury. MI were dealt a recent blow with Jofra Archer who has not fully recovered and has flown back to England. This has made the MI bowling unit very weak and inexperienced. Rohit also had to shoulder the burden of guiding the youngsters. MI, which was once a side, filled with stalwarts has now become a very young team.

Ravi Shastri in an interview to ESPNCricinfo said that Rohit's confidence had taken a beating as he did not have the runs under his belt. He further went on to say that MI could become an unbeatable side in 2-3 years time. Even in IPL 2022, MI did not have the best of seasons. They finished in 10th position with only four wins and ten losses.

They only had eight points to show. MI's batting has been holding up brilliantly and is their strong point. The likes of Cameron Green and Tim David have taken much more responsibility. They have also put fourth game changing performances and finished games for the side.
