According to a story, the verbal abuse levelled towards the Australian squad in the second Ashes Test at Lord's was so high that prominent batter Steve Smith's mother fled the area and a staff member's small son broke down in tears.

Following the scenes of supporters reacting to Jonny Bairstow's controversial stumping dismissal, Pat Cummins' squad has requested that security for families be increased for the third match against England on Thursday.Β

According to The Australian, Smith's mother Gillian, who attended the Lord's Test alongside his father Peter, left the venue early after receiving abuse from spectators.

According to the publication, the spectators singled her out for abuse because of her nationality without knowing that she was related to the former Test captain. It further stated how the 11-year-old son of an employee of the Australia squad sobbed after also experiencing harassment.

Later, Australian players gathered to support the child on the balcony inside the cricket stadium. The squad has requested additional security for those closest to them during the next match between the two teams at Headingley as a consequence of the animosity.

3 MCC members were suspended for abusing Australian playersΒ

After three Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) members were suspended for abusing the visitors as they passed through the renowned Long Room during a stoppage in play, officials at the stadium have already planned additional security measures for the second Test. It's anticipated that particular attention will be paid to the Western Terrace, which is known to be one of the noisiest areas to watch cricket.

Fans' rage after what was one of the most problematic dismissals in Ashes ever led to abuse thrown at Australian players like Usman Khawaja, who once requested a security member to deal with a few of the spectators in the pavilion.

After players were allegedly mistreated by MCC members within the Lord's Pavilion, Australia sought a request for clarification from the organisation. On the final day of play, footage captured inside the Long Room revealed that Australian stars were screamed at by numerous members and called "cheats" as they exited the field for lunch.
