The first Test match of the South Africa tour of England has seen some great action by the touring team. With some great performances with the bat and the ball, South Africa has taken a significant lead in the match. The Proteas are currently leading by 124 runs at the end of day two.
Batting first, England did not have the best start as they lost both their openers early on day one. Kagiso Rabad broke both the players to put his team in a good position early on. Ollie Pope held on one end after that, but wickets did not hold up on the other end. Pope, batting at three, held his ground and reached his half-century.
The Chelsea born eventually scored 73 runs in 120 balls and helped the team to get to a total of 165 runs. Ben Stokes, with 20 runs in 30 balls, was the second highest scorer of the match. Rabada was at the top of his game for South Africa as he finally entered the Lord's honour board with a five-wicket haul. He eventually ended with the figures of 52/5 in 19 overs.
Marco Jansen (two wickets) and Anrich Nortje (three wickets) did the rest of the job for their team. South Africa made a strong start in the second innings, with captain Dean Elgar and Sarel Erwee leading the charge to add runs. The two accounted for an 85-run opening partnership.
James Anderson got the breakthrough wicket of Elgar (47 runs in 81 balls) in the 23rd over. Erwee, on the other hand, continued to do well and ended with a score of 73 runs in 146 balls. After losing a few more wickets, Marco Jansen and Keshav Maharaj (41) took the visitors to a comfortable lead with a 72-run seventh-wicket partnership.
At the end of day two, South Africa managed a score of 289/7 with a lead of 124 runs. With 41 and three runs, respectively, Marco Jansen and Kagiso Rabada are in the middle.

Rabada has the best strike rate in Test match history over the last 120 years for anyone taking a minimum of 100 wickets. That is incredible!!! #ENGvsSA #ProteaFire
