Former Indian Cricket Board president Sourav Ganguly has come up with a criticism of the current regime of Indian cricket. He went on lash out at the management for appointing the senior batter Ajinkya Rahane as vice-captain for the Test series against West Indies. Subsequently, he also went on to advocate for the star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja to be the vice-captain on the Test setup of the Indian Team.

"I don't understand the thought process behind making Rahane Vice Captain again. There's Jadeja, who is a certainty in Tests, he is a candidate. But to just come back and straightway becomes VC after 18 months, I don't understand,” said Ganguly to PTI.

Although this statement from the former Indian skipper and former Board president didn’t go down well with a section of the Indian cricket fans. They immediately took to the micro-blogging site Twitter and came up with the trolling remarks for Ganguly.

Some of the fans also recalled the time when the 50-year-old was chief of the Indian Cricket Board; they also blamed him for not doing anything productive for Indian cricket during his tenure.

Here’s how fans reacted:

Notably, Rahane has been in amazing batting form during the last year in domestic cricket followed by his heroics in the Indian Premier League 2023. Rahane was also the highest run-scorer for Team India when the rest of the batting lineup failed during the World Test Championship 2023 final against Australia.

Talking about India’s tour of the West Indies, they will lock horns with the Caribbean side in the first of the two-match Test series at Dominica on the 12th of July 2023. Apart from the two-match Test series, the men in blue under the captaincy of regular skipper Rohit Sharma, will also play a three-match ODI series against West Indies.

Just after the conclusion of the West Indies tour, Rohit Sharma’s men will be in action during the upcoming Asia Cup 2023. Team India will be playing the 16th edition of this continental tournament in Sri Lanka which will be officially hosted by Pakistan.
