Team India failed to win in the semi-final of the ongoing 20-20 World Cup against England in Adelaide on 10 November 2022. It was another heartbreaking moment for the Indian fans as they lost another semi-final of a major tournament. However, Pakistan already qualified for the final by defeating the Kiwis on 9 November.
So, fans were expecting a high-voltage clash between two arch-rivals once again at the MCG for the final. But, the Men in Blue failed to do so. After the match, head coach, Rahul Dravid came to the post-match press conference. There, he came up with a bold statement, and in response to that Wasim Akram came up with a reply.
“Kya fark padega innlogon ki approach main?” - Wasim Akram on the approach of India
In the press conference, Rahul Dravid said that Indian players need to play overseas leagues to prepare themselves. But for that, the Indian Cricket Board need to take a decision. He said: “There's no doubt about it that England players have come and played in this tournament (Big Bash League).”
“It's tough, it's very difficult for Indian cricket because a lot of these tournaments happen right at the peak of our season. I think it's a huge challenge for us. A lot of our boys do miss out on the opportunity of playing in these leagues. But it's up to the Board to make that decision, but the thing is that it's right in the middle of our season,” Dravid concluded.
In response to that, Wasim Akram said: "Sabko yehi that ki Indian T20 League se India ko bara fark padega because Indian T20 League started in 2008. Usse pehle India 2007 me T20 World Cup jitee. Jabse se Indian T20 League shuru huyi hai, aaj tak, abhi bhi unfortunately, India kabhi T20 World Cup nehi jita. So usse phir ek question udhta hai ki kya fark padta hai ki, jo main ek interview sunn raha tha abhi, ki unke players jo overseas jaake leagues nehi khelte, ek extra league khelne ki bhi permission milo jaye, kya fark padega innlogon ki approach main?”
