Team India have already completed all their cricketing actions of 2022 by finishing the tour of Bangladesh. However, it was not a good tour for them as they lost the ODI series by 2-1 followed by a 2-0 victory over the Bangla Tigers in the two-match Test series. However, Rishabh Pant had a decent Test series.

He scored 148 runs in three innings of the two Tests in that series. However, team India did not consider him for playing XIs in the three-match ODI series. Now, team India will be in action again in January 2023 for the ODI and T20I series against Sri Lanka at home. But, Rishabh Pant is still not part of those squads.

As per reports, Rishabh Pant will report to National Cricket Academy, Bengaluru for strength and conditioning before the Test series against Australia. The team management felt he will have a key role to play in the Tests, and needed this housekeeping break after playing 44 internationals this year. But, on 30 December 2022, the whole nation became shocked when the news of him getting involved in a dangerous road accident got circulated. His car met with an accident while returning home from Delhi. Rishabh Pant’s Mercedes collided with a divider on the Delhi-Dehradun highway.  The exact place of that accident was the Narsan border of Roorkee near Hammadpur Jhal. 

According to eyewitnesses, Pant hit the car with the railing and the car caught fire. Somehow, the fire got under control and the Indian wicketkeeper was taken to Saksham Hospital on Delhi Road. According to the doctors, Pant suffered injuries to his forehead and leg. Uttarakhand Police Director General Ashok Kumar claimed that Pant broke the windscreen to escape the flaming vehicle. He suffered head, knee, and shin injuries. His leg might have been fractured, so he was transported to the Max Hospital in Dehradun. Police also confirmed that he has suffered burn injuries, but his condition is not severe. Fans were in shock after hearing the such devastating news. Hence, they came up and wished him a quick recovery on social media platforms.
