The Aussie fast bowler James Pattinson is ready to share the charge with the pace attack whenever necessary. The pacer is a part of the Test squad that will play four matches against India. Pattinson said that he is willing to wait for his chance.

The India vs Australia 2020 series will see the top-notch teams play four Tests in a short sequel. There will be a tight lapse between games which will offer little chance for rest to the bowlers if the matches go to the fifth day. Keeping that in mind, Pattinson confirmed that those changes to the side would depend on how the pacers are feeling after matches.

James Pattinson suggests it will be a good sign if he does not get selected

Australia’s pace trio, Hazlewood, Starc, and Pat Cummins are all set for the Test series against India. However, both the teams will just a four-day break between the first and second Tests.

After that, there is also a three-day gap between the third and final Tests. Hence there is a chance of the bowlers getting exhausted if matches go down to the wire.

The hosts have developed a significant fast-bowling cluster since the 2019 Ashes. However, different bowlers are to be selected based on different roles each one best suits. Due to which Starc, Hazlewood, Pattinson, Cummins, and Peter Siddle have always played crucial roles whenever picked for the side.

Hazlewood, Starc, and Cummins are the leading pace bowling attack in the first day-night Test at Adelaide. However, James Pattinson might soon get his chance considering the matches will come over and over again.

Pattinson also believes that it is difficult to get back into the team, especially coming back from so many injuries and having back surgery. Pattinson had a fantastic IPL playing for Mumbai Indians. The 30-year-old has consistently earned enough praise from Australian coach Justin Langer over the past 18 months.

The right-arm pacer was quite impressive during the recent practice matches against India. He grabbed three wickets, giving away only 58 runs. The Australian quickly managed to send Cheteshwar Pujara back to the pavilion.

Pattinson has featured in 21 Tests for Australia and picked up 81 wickets at a bowling average of 26.33. The pacer has also taken 4 five wicket-hauls until now. In 2015, against West Indies, Pattinson recorded his best bowling figures. He achieved his fourth five-wicket haul, taking five wickets for 27 runs.
