MI pacer Trent Boult has hailed fellow bowler Jasprit Bumrah for his impressive bowling in the death overs. The 31 year old also stated that Bumrah’s exploits with the ball makes his job easier than expected. In the match between SRH and MI in IPL 2021, Trent Boult and Jasprit Bumrah bowled the last 4 overs of the match. The Orange Army needed 31 runs in the last 4 overs to win the match. However, they could muster only 17 runs as MI went on to win the match by 13 runs. Bumrah took charge of the 17th over of SRH’s innings, conceding just 4 runs to build pressure on the batting side. The 27 year old also scalped the crucial wicket of Vijay Shankar, who was the only hope for SRH in the dying overs. Bumrah also bowled the 19th over, conceding just 5 runs.
On the other hand, Trent Boult bowled the 18th over of SRH’s innings, conceding just 6 runs in the over. Boult also picked the crucial wicket of SRH all rounder Rashid Khan in the same over. SRH needed 16 runs in the last over of the match. However, some brilliant bowling at the death by Boult ensured that MI crossed the finishing line comfortably. Trent Boult bagged superb bowling figures of 3/28 in 3.4 overs. Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah conceded just 14 runs in 4 overs, picking 1 wicket for MI.
It gives you confidence when you scrap victories for your team - Kieron Pollard
While both Boult and Bumrah bowled fantastically well, Kieron Pollard was adjudged Man of the Match against SRH. Pollard put in a fine overall performance, delivering with both bat and ball. Pollard’s innings of 35 runs off 22 balls guided MI to a total of 150. Pollard also bowled 2 economical overs for MI. Bowling 2 overs, Pollard conceded just 2 runs in total.
Post the game, Pollard spoke regarding the difficulty to score runs at the Chepauk stadium in Chennai. The West Indian all rounder stated that bagging those extra runs at the end of the innings helped MI post a fighting total. While Mumbai’s finishers delivered with the bat, SRH’s middle batting order looked feeble at best. The inability for SRH to chase runs at the end is what cost them the match. If SRH want to contend for the IPL trophy this year, they need their finishers to deliver.
