In the last couple of months or so, India's lead pacer Jasprit Bumrah has struggled with his fitness. Early last month, he was ruled out of the Asia Cup 2022 due to a back injury. Bumrah was missed by the Men In Blue who were defending their title. The team crashed out of the tournament after the Super Four round.
The biggest concern for the team was their death bowling during the tournament. Fans and the team management were hoping for him to regain full fitness ahead of the recently-concluded T20I series against Australia, The right-arm pacer fulfilled the expectations of his fans and the team management and played two games in the series. However, it is now reported that the 28-year-old is ruled out of the 20-20 World Cup 2022.

It is to be noted that there is no official word from the Indian Cricket Board on the matter as of now. According to the renowned journalist Kushan Sarkar, the Ahmedabad-born player didn't travel with the team ahead of the first T20I against South Africa. The match was played in Thiruvanathapuram. The five-time Indian T20 League winner was replaced by Deepak Chahar in the game.

Ahead of the India-South Africa T20I game, the Indian Cricket Board took to Twitter to announce Jasprit's absence. The tweet said that the lead pacer of the team was ruled out due to back pain. The tweet added that he will be assessed by the medical team.
