Deepak Chahar, the Indian pacer, is away from competitive cricket and the right-armer might make his return to play for the Chennai franchise in the upcoming edition of the Indian T20 League. That being said, Chahar married his wife Jaya Bhardwaj on June 2, 2022, and the love birds have been winning hearts since then with pics on social media.

On February 4, Saturday, reports emerged claiming that the pacer’s wife was deceived and duped of INR 10 lakhs on the pretext of business. To add more, following the incident, a case was registered by her father-in-law Lokendra Chahar in Agra at the Hari Parvat police station. The accused, reportedly, are from Hyderabad and they were detained following the allegations claimed by Jaya.

The accused named Dhruv Pareek and Kamlesh Pareek are reportedly yet to return the money that they took away from the Chahar family way back in October 2022. One of the accused, to the surprise of cricket fans, was an official at the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) and they threatened with death threats when Chahar’s family asked for the return of their money.

Can Deepak Chahar make a strong comeback for the Chennai franchise?

For the unversed, Chahar was roped in for a whopping INR 14.5 crore in the 2022 mega-auction and the right-armer was ruled out of the squad due to an injury that he sustained prior to the start of the tournament. To his relief, the pacer was retained for the 2023 edition and it remains to be seen if he would bounce back for the franchise.

The Indian pacer was not at his best when he made his comeback and with the emergence of star bowlers like Umran Malik and Shivam Mavi, Chahar’s return to the national squad remains a question and his proneness to injury could come as another factor to leave him out moving forward. With the road to a national comeback filled with hurdles, it would require something magical from the right-armer to announce himself in the international circuit once again.
