England’s captain, Joe Root, returned to number five spot in the ICC Test Rankings after his match winnings performance against Sri Lanka. India’s wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant who was unbeaten in Brisbane helped the side to a memorable victory against the Aussies. With this win, the youngster has gained a career-best 13th position. He is now the top-ranked wicket-keeper in the batting rankings with 691 points. The next wicket-keeper in the list is Quinton de Kock. The South African cricketer is now on 15th spot with 677 points.

Joe Root has also retained his spot with his highest rating points tally of 783. After scoring a first-innings 228, the batsman helped England win the first Test against Sri Lanka by seven wickets. He has also surpassed Pakistan’s skipper Babar Azam. The batsman is now at 6th spot and India’s ace batsman Cheteshwar Pujara secured the 7th spot.

India’s sensational opening batsman Shubman Gill has also continued his upward trajectory. The youngster has now jumped to 47th spot after scoring a crucial 91 in the last match. Mohammad Siraj moved up 32 places to 45th position after taking six wickets against Australia.

Pat Cummins leading the bowler’s rankings with 908 points

Marnus Labuschagne’s century took him ahead of Virat Kohli to the third position, with a career-best 878 rating points. Pat Cummins, the Man of Series, is currently leading the bowler’s rankings with 908 points.

Washington Sundar and Shardul Thakur were outstanding as they contributed with both bat and ball. The all-rounder Washington Sundar has now entered the rankings and is placed 82nd in batting and 97th in bowling positions. Mumbai seamer Shardul Thakur has also re-entered the batting list and is spotted 113th position in batting and the bowling list in 65th position.

After England’s massive victory against Sri Lanka, spinners Jack Leach and Dominic Bess have made significant progress. The duo has claimed five-wicket hauls in Galle. England’s wicket-keeper batsman Jonny Bairstow has also jumped up five places to 58th in batting and all-rounder Sam Curran is now at 39th in bowling. Talking about the Sri Lankan team, batsman Lahiru Thirimanne’s brilliant ton helped him jump 12 places to 87th position. However, left-arm spinner Lasith Embuldeniya has also climbed up six places to 47th position.
