Jofra Archer

Gautam Gambhir believes that England's all-rounder Jofra Archer could be a concern for Team India in the upcoming series. Archer has 38 wickets in 11 Test matches. The all-rounder has mostly played on seamer-friendly pitches in the purest format of the game. However, his exploits in the Indian Premier League are enough to prove the all-rounder can also be a tough opponent on Indian pitches. Gautam Gambhir reckoned Jofra Archer as the one who could destroy Team India's plans of clinching the series.

Jofra Archer was rested for the two-Test series in Sri Lanka. The 25-year-old has been a revelation in India since his IPL debut in 2018. The all-rounder has consistently performed well in the shortest format in terms of wickets as well as his express pace. Archer has never featured in first-class cricket in Asia. He has played 11 Tests and picked up 22 wickets in a memorable debut in the 2019 home Ashes series. The pace bowler also helped England claim their first 50-over ICC World Cup.

England bowlers will target Virat Kohli: Gautam Gambhir

Demonstrating the approach England bowlers could take up against Virat Kohli and the team, Gautam Gambhir noticed that controlling the run flow could be their primary aim. The England cricket team had applied similar tactics against Sri Lanka in their 2-0 series win last month.

Gautam Gambhir also reckoned that the visiting team could further look to be on the offensive only if conventional or reverse swing would be possible. The former batsman believes that India can't get carried away from their exploits against Australia. The team should focus and start things afresh against England. England will undoubtedly think of restricting captain Virat Kohli's quiet if they want to limit a formidable Indian batting line-up to a manageable total.

The Indian captain has so far aggregated 1248 runs at a brilliant average of 78 in the last 10 Tests he has played against the visitors. After missing out in the Test match against Australia, Virat Kohli would look to lead the side from the front and deliver an impressive series win.
