Jofra Archer

Former Indian pacer Ashish Nehra believes that Jofra Archer is the most proficient fast bowler in the world currently. The Barbadian all-rounder was brilliant with the ball as he gave an early breakthrough to England. Archer picked up wickets of both Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill in the Chennai Test's first innings against England. Dom Bess was in top form as he picked up wickets of Ajinkya Rahane, Virat Kohli, Cheteshwar Pujara, and Rishabh Pant.

During a recent interview, Ashish Nehra and VVS Laxman praised Jofra Archer's efforts. Nehra reckoned that the lanky England speedster is a whole lot better than Pat Cummins, Kagiso Rabada, Mitchell Starc, and Jasprit Bumrah, in terms of skills. Ashish Nehra stated that the all-rounder made the best use of the pitch conditions at the Chepauk stadium. Archer caused trouble to Virat Kohli with his short-pitched deliveries.

VVS Laxman applauded Archer for bowling in perfect line and length in his maiden Test away from home.

England continue to dominate despite Pant's heroics

After losing crucial wickets in their first innings, the hosts now find themselves in a precarious position against England. Team India were 257 for six at the end of the day after England were out for 578. The hosts' trail by 321 runs. Opening batsmen Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill could not give a good start as they managed scores of six and 29 runs respectively. Indian captain Virat Kohli and deputy Ajinkya Rahane scored 11 and 1 respectively before getting dismissed by Dom Bess. After their dismissal, Cheteshwar Pujara and Rishabh Pant built a crucial partnership that brought India back into the contest. Pujara scored 73 runs while Pant slammed 91 runs from 88 balls. Washington Sundar (33) and Ravichandran Ashwin (8) were the two unbeaten batsmen at the end of day three.

England's bowling unit was on top form against India, with Jofra Archer picking two wickets. On Day 4, the England cricket team will be aiming to continue their domination against India.
