Jos Buttler revealed how he has been helping RR skipper Sanju Samson in IPL 2021. This is Samson’s 1st season in the IPL as the captain of the RR side. The English opener stated that he frequently shares his experience with captaincy with Sanju Samson. Buttler has been the vice-captain of the England national team for quite some time now. Just like Buttler, Chris Morris has also helped Samson with quite a few captaincy decisions. Another senior player who has helped Sanju Samson with captaincy issues is David Miller. Samson could blossom as a successful captain in the future because he has so many senior players helping him out.

Currently, RR is 7th in the IPL 2021 points table. In 5 matches in IPL 2021 so far, Rajasthan has won only 2 matches. With so many foreign players unavailable, the burden on Buttler’s shoulders has increased significantly. Ben Stokes was the 1st foreign player to depart, owing to injury. Later on, Liam Livingstone and Andrew Tye also announced their departure, citing bubble fatigue as the main reason. Although Jofra Archer is fit to play, he is unlikely to start for RR anytime soon. Now, RR has only 4 foreign players available in their squad to play, namely Mustafizur Rahman, David Miller, Jos Buttler, and Chris Morris.

Jos Buttler’s struggles with the bat in IPL 2021

With a lack of foreign players on the RR side, the onus is now on Jos Buttler to fire with the bat. The RR opener is struggling to find a form with the bat in the IPL this year. In 5 matches in IPL 2021, Buttler has amassed just 89 runs in total. His dismal batting of just 17.80 so far this season clearly highlights that Buttler is out of form. Buttler’s best score in IPL 2021 so far is a meager 49, which came against CSK. Unfortunately, Buttler ended on the losing side as CSK beat RR by 45 runs in the 12th match of IPL 2021.

After a dismal start to the IPL this season, RR’s chances to qualify for the playoffs are slim at best. The inaugural IPL champions need to win matches soon or else they will fail to finish in the top 4 this year.
