Josh Philippe wishes to represent Australia in the game's purest format. Following his memorable outings in the Big Bash League, the right-handed batsman was recently selected for the forthcoming five-match T20I series against New Zealand.

Josh Philippe is mainly seen as a white-ball cricketer because of his explosive batting at the top of the order. The youngster is eager to establish himself in Test cricket. In 19 first-class matches, Philippe averages 28.22 with the bat. He dropped an excellent opportunity playing for Sheffield Shield last year as he played for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL.

Josh Philippe named BBL 10 player of the tournament

Playing for the Sydney Sixers, Philippe was named the BBL 10 Player of the Tournament. The Australian received 22 votes throughout the season to finish ahead of Sydney Thunder's opening batsman Alex Hales. The on-field umpires attributed the polls throughout the competition. Each umpire draws a 3-2-1 vote after the completion of each match. Perth Scorchers fast bowler Jhye Richardson was the third one on the list.

Josh Philippe has aggregated 499 runs at an average of 33.26 at an impressive strike rate of 150.30. The young batsman is the third-highest behind Hales and Chris Lynn among the BBL's top-20 most prolific batsmen. England's Alex Hales is leading the chart with 543 runs in 15 games at an average of nearly 39. The dynamic England batsman has also smashed one century and three half-centuries in the tournament.

Philippe struck 16 dismissals behind the stumps in BBL. The 23-year-old proved everyone after his impressive performance in last season's Big Bash League. He was the third-highest run-scorer for Sydney Sixers. Considering his performance in BBL 9, Royal Challengers Bangalore signed him ahead of the IPL 2020 but Philippe could not live up to the expectations as he managed to score only 78 runs in 5 matches. However, it remains to be seen if he can prove his talent in the Indian Premier League this season.
