In a recent piece of much-awaited news, the selection of Pakistan Cricket Board has announced the Pakistan squad for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023, in India. The team has faced a major blow as the star young pacer Naseem Shah couldn’t make it to the World Cup squad due to the injury which he sustained during the recently concluded Asia Cup 2023.
The selectors called up the senior pacer Hasan Ali who was not in action with Pakistan for a long time. He will replace Naseem Shah in the squad for the upcoming marquee international tournament in their neighbouring country, India.
“There are a lot of injury concerns for our fast bowlers. We wanted someone who has experience of playing in big tournaments and can pick wickets in the middle so we have gone with Hasan Ali,” said PCB chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq during a press conference while announcing Pakistan squad for the ODI World Cup 2023.
“The reports that we have got suggest that Naseem Shah will be out for quite some time and not only the World Cup. It is a big blow for Pakistan with the kind of bowling he was doing with the new ball as well as at the death,” he added later on Naseem Shah.
Furthermore, Inzamam also pointed out the errors from Pakistan’s bowling attack in the Asia Cup 2023 and their inability to take the wickets at the crucial junctures of the matches.
“We were struggling to pick wickets in the middle overs in Asia Cup 2023 and we know that we have to take wickets in the middle to win matches in India. So, we have picked bowlers who can do that,” he said.

Naseem Shah was better than Shaheen and Rauf, Shaheen is only relevant with new ball and Rauf is nothing on flat pitches which are prepared for the WC . Position no. 10 confirmed 👍🏻

Doesn't matter, even If Naseem played Indian batters would have bashed him. They did not even spare Rauf and Afridi in last game.
