New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson regains number one position in the recent ICC Test Rankings after his brilliant performance in the WTC final.

New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson regains number one position in the recent ICC Test Rankings after his brilliant performance in the WTC final. He has dethroned Australian star batsman Steve Smith. Smith has now dropped to second place with 891 rating points. Kane Williamson played the knocks of 49 and 52 in both innings, which has helped him move up the 900-point mark. With 901 rating points, Kane Williamson has a 10-point lead over Australian batsman Steve Smith.

Talking about team India, Ajinkya Rahane has progressed three places. He is currently placed in the 13th position, after his scores of 49 and 15 in the WTC final. Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has slipped to the second position. Once again, West Indian all-rounder Jason Holder is leading the table with 384 points.

Kyle Jamieson in a career-best 13th position

New Zealand pacers have advanced in the rankings after displaying a brilliant show against the Indian cricket team in the WTC final. Kyle Jamieson's figures of five for 31 and two for 30 have advanced him up to a career-best 13th position. The tall, lanky fast bowler has been in great form. No bowler has taken more Test wickets at a better average than him since 1900. Left-arm pacer Trent Boult has also progressed two places to 11th position. The senior pacer picked up five wickets against India in Southampton.

New Zealand’s senior batsman Ross Taylor, who scored an unbeaten 47, has advanced three places to 14th position. Taylor also partnered in an unbroken 96-run stand with Kane Williamson to help the side win the match. Left-handed opening batsman Devon Conway has gained 18 slots to reach 42nd place. He was the top scorer for the Black Caps with 52 runs in the first innings.

Talking about the T20I Player Rankings, West Indies’ left-handed opener Evin Lewis has moved from 10th position. He recently won the player of the match award for his brilliant knock of 71 runs off 35 balls. Left-arm spinner Fabian Allen has also progressed 23 places to 20th position. South Africa’s Quinton de Kock, Reeza Hendricks, and Temba Bavuma are among the other players to progress in the ICC rankings.
