After winning against Pakistan and the Netherlands in the ongoing 20-20 World Cup, team India took on South Africa in Perth on 30 October 2022. Fans were hoping to see another great performance from the Men in Blue. On the other hand, the Proteas were coming off after a big win over Bangladesh.

So, the stage was set for a great battle between these sides. However, speaking of the match, Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bat first. Deepak Hooda came into the playing XI in place of Axar Patel. For India, skipper Rohit Sharma ad KL Rahul came out to open the innings.

Meanwhile, both the openers departed early within the powerplay overs. Only Suryakumar Yadav scored 68 runs off 40 balls, including six fours and three sixes. He batted at a strike rate of 170. Apart from him, no batters managed to stay at the crease for a long time. India managed only 133 runs for nine wickets in 20 overs. For the Proteas, Wayne Parnell took three wickets for 15 runs in four overs. But, Lungi Ngidi was the main star as he took four wickets for 29 runs in four overs. 

In reply, Temba Bavuma and Quinton de Kock came out to open the innings. But, Arshdeep Singh managed to give early breakthroughs to India by sending de Kock early. They also felt the heat as the Proteas were struggling at 40 runs in 10 overs by losing three wickets. But, Aidem Markram batted brilliantly as he scored 52 runs off 41 balls, including six fours and one six. But, in the last two overs, they needed 12 runs only. David Miller remained not out by scoring 56* runs off  46 balls. Thus, the Proteas defeated India by five wickets in the ongoing World Cup. With this win, they also went to the top of the table in the group.
