Former England skipper Kevin Pietersen will captain England Legends in the forthcoming Road Safety World Series. The series is going to start on March 5 at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium in Raipur. Owais Shah, Monty Panesar, Matthew Hoggard, and Nick Crompton are also part of the squad.
Khaled Mahmud is going to captain the Bangladesh Legends in the forthcoming Unacademy Road Safety World Series. The squad includes Nafees Iqbal, Abdul Razzak, and Mohd Rafique. The England Legends team has already reached Raipur on Friday, while the Bangladesh team will reach Raipur from Dhaka via Kolkata on Saturday (February 27).
Indian Legends will face Bangladesh Legends in the tournament opener
Indian Legends will face Bangladesh Legends in the tournament opener on March 5 in Raipur. The stadium is going to host all matches of the series with a 50 percent crowd in attendance. The Series is an initiative taken by the Road Safety Cell of Maharashtra. This is in partnership with the Professional Management Group led by Sunil Gavaskar as the Commissioner of the tournament. Legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar is the brand ambassador of the series.
Considering the Bangladesh Legends were not a part of the tournament last year, they will have to compete in five group matches. The team will play against the India Legends in the first game (March 5) before facing England Legends, Sri Lanka Legends, West Indies Legends, and South Africa Legends.
South Africa will play their first match against England on March 11, followed by the second match on March 14. The last group stage match of the series will be between the Bangladesh Legends and England Legends on March 16.
Education technology platform Unacademy is the title sponsor, while Viacom18 is the broadcast partner of the tournament. The first season of the series was cancelled after four games on March 11 last year due to Covid-19.
