Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni is regarded as one of the fittest players at the age of 41. He is still playing the game although he only plays cricket during IPL seasons. Apart from that, he has been playing different sports for fun. Meanwhile, during the ongoing IPL 2023, Dhoni has been playing with knee troubles. Early in the season, CSK head coach Stephen Fleming confirmed the development.
The former New Zealand skipper confirmed this after the team's first game of the tournament against defending champions, Gujarat Titans. Meanwhile, during their game against Rajasthan Royals, the former India skipper had the same problem. The same was pointed out by former Australia and CSK player Matthew Hayden.
“We will not give fans the false expectations that nothing’s wrong. There is definitely something wrong with MS Dhoni. His running between the wickets is usually quite electric, which was not there today," said Hayden talking to the broadcasters after the match between CSK and RR.
“As the innings progressed on, we saw him limping quite heavily. There are some question marks, that I am sure that MS Dhoni will have to answer and the medical staff will get straight into it. He will want to keep playing in the tournament," Hayden added.
MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja almost pulled off an unlikely win
Meanwhile, in the 17th game of the ongoing tournament, the home team, Super Kings won the toss and elected to bowl first. After losing their first wicket early, the Royals were going well at 88/1 in 8.2 overs. In the ninth over, Ravindra Jadeja took two wickets to change the game for the next few overs. In the 16th over, Ravichandran Ashwin hit two sixes to provide some momentum.
The 2008 winners reached 175/8 with Jos Buttler scoring another fifty. In reply, the home team was going well at 78/1 at one stage. However, the likes of Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Adam Zampa picked a few wickets and reduced the opposition to 113/6. at this stage, the likes of Dhoni and Jadeja tried well but the team fell short by three runs.

So much pressure on these so called experts to find something to criticize. LoL what is this. He could have said that he was cramping or wasn't full fit but he said something is wrong with Dhoni.
Being relevant on twitter is bringing down commentary to sh!t

The expectations level from ex cricketer is still so high from a player who retired 3-4 years ago. That's the standard of MS Dhoni. 😀

It's simple he didn't want to win. Just look at the lethargic way he played dot balls and singles when the asking rate was climbing. He just wants to drag on till the last ball to look like a hero.

He has a knee injury. He has said it before the tournament itself.

We all noticed that and he is not 100% fit while coming into this tournament ig. Vintage power hitting is there but we lost the vintage Thala on converting 2s n 3s. Age is catching up apparently #MSDhoni𓃵
