Pakistan are currently busy playing the T20I tri-series in New Zealand. On 7 October, they won the first match against Bangladesh also. However, coming up to this series, they lost to England at home in a seven-match T20I series (4-3). Hence, ahead of the 20-20 World Cup, it was a big blow for the Men in Green. The last and seventh match of that series was a decider.

But, Pakistan failed miserably as they failed to chase down a target of 210 runs. During that match, Pakistan Khushdil Shah (27 runs off 25 balls) failed to contribute with the bat. Therefore, fans slammed him. Later, there were reports that he cried in the dressing room. Regarding that, Aaqib Javed raised questions about Shah’s mentality.

“Khushdil Shah was crying in the dressing room, what's the point of that?” - Aaqib Javed

When Khushdil Shah got out, people started to chant ‘Parchi’ by targeting him. This chant is an expression made to signify that a player was included in the team on the basis of references rather than merit. Regarding that, former Pakistani player, Aaqib Javed said that Shah was crying in the dressing room. But, there was no point in it. During a conversation with reporters, Aaqib Javed said: “This is very unfortunate. Whether it's the board, the team management, or the player, the main job is to execute the skill. When you take five wickets in a game, you don't need others to praise you because you know you have done well.”

He also added that Khushdil Shah needs to work on his performance rather than crying after hearing such criticism from fans. “You are appreciated for the work you do. Khushdil was crying in the dressing room, what's the point of that? He shouldn't be focusing on what people are saying, he should instead be focusing on performances. If you score, if you score a hundred or fifty, the people will praise you. Why are they not focussing on their performances?” Aaqib Javed added.

“They say middle-order is not playing well. Can I say that they are performing good? This isn't happening inside an office, this is happening in front of TV screens. This is reality and you can't run away from it. You should focus on your system, and think about why you are not having options?” Aaqib Javed concluded.
