Ricky Skerritt, the Cricket West Indies chief, has said that Kieron Pollard and Phil Simmons have some loud critics who want them out of their positions due to non cricket related stuff. Skerritt, however, denied any immediate changes in the current team setup. West Indies cricket broke down after the team's early exit from the 20-20 World Cup. Later, they also lost the ODI series against Ireland post which rumours started doing rounds that not everything is right in West Indies dressing room.
"Phil and Pollard have a few, but loud, critics who want them gone for non-cricket reasons," said the CWI Chief as quoted y Cricbuzz. "I have no reason to believe there will be any change in coach and captain any time soon. But remember the captaincy is evaluated as is the coach. If the system says these guys are not right people, we will deal with it. At the moment I don't see anything coming at me that says these guys must go. Caribbean people like to take people down," he added.
West Indies, however, recently defeated England in the five match T20I series. The team is set to visit India for a complete white-ball series from the 6th of February.
Skerritt also rubbished the reports of a rift between the players and termed it as an ugly attack on the West Indies captain. "I view this as a malicious attack on the credibility of the West Indies Captain, designed to sow division within our team that has just recorded three very impressive T20I performances against very strong opponents (England). This clear attempt by well-known mischief makers to discredit the captain should not be tolerated or encouraged," added Skerritt.
